M51 – The Whirlpool galaxy

This is how it looks when two galaxies get close to each other. However, these 2 galaxies are actually not colliding, but rather just passing by each other. The two galaxies are located roughly 23 million light-years from earth!

Taken with the Moravian G2-8300 CCD (which I could lend from my university).
Sadly, due to bad weather, I was only able to acquire 10minutes for each RGB channel. Nevertheless, I think the result got quite nice!

12x 600s Luminance
1x 600s each for RGB

Telescope: GSO RC 8″
Mount: Celestron Advanced VX
